What expect­a­tions do you have of umati? What do you expect from the partnership?

 “We look for­ward to work­ing togeth­er to estab­lish a com­monly agreed-upon frame­work for stand­ard­iz­a­tion with­in addit­ive man­u­fac­tur­ing. The future UA4AM (UA Inter­face for Addit­ive Man­u­fac­tur­ing) is designed to facil­it­ate com­mu­nic­a­tion between 3D print­ers and soft­ware such as MES, PLM, and ERP.”

What advant­ages does umati offer your com­pany and your customers?

“Umati per­fectly matches BigRep’s mis­sion towards increased pro­ductiv­ity and ease of use. Adopt­ing this stand­ard will allow users to pro­to­type faster, innov­ate with new APIs, and ensure fur­ther inter­op­er­ab­il­ity across vari­ous digit­al plat­forms, enabling smooth­er work­flows and improved to-mar­ket times.”

How do you eval­u­ate the expan­sion of the umati ini­ti­at­ive to the entire mech­an­ic­al engin­eer­ing industry?

“We believe digit­al integ­ra­tion cap­ab­il­it­ies based on stand­ard­iz­a­tion will become a key fea­ture for AM machines on the fact­ory floor. BigRep intends to be an essen­tial part of this movement.”
