umati has new partner ALPHA LASER GmbH

ALPHA LASER GmbH is now part of the umati community

What expectations do you have of Umati, what do you expect from the partnership?

At ALPHA LASER, we develop systems that are often integrated into highly specialized production environments. We expect the UMATI partnership to support seamless communication between our laser welding and hardening systems and the various IT infrastructures used by our customers. By contributing to an open standard, we aim to reduce integration barriers and strengthen our position as a flexible, forward-thinking solution provider.

What advantages does umati offer your company and your customers?

UMATI helps bridge the gap between our highly customized laser systems and the digital factory floor. With a standardized interface, we can reduce the integration effort for our customers—especially those working in tool & mold making or precision engineering with complex production setups. Our mobile and compact systems become even more versatile when they can “speak the same language” as the rest of the production line, increasing transparency and efficiency.

How do you evaluate the expansion of the Umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering industry?

We see the expansion of UMATI as a strategic milestone for mechanical engineering. For companies like ALPHA LASER—offering specialized systems used in diverse industries from medical technology to sensor manufacturing—a universal communication standard means fewer custom interfaces, lower costs, and better scalability. It also allows smaller or niche system manufacturers like us to plug into broader digital ecosystems more easily.
