Traeger GmbH Industry Components is now part of the umati community
What expectations do you have of umati and what do you expect from the partnership?
We see umati as a strong initiative to bring machine builders, control system manufacturers and IT providers together — with the aim of making open standards such as OPC UA usable together. As a provider of industrial connectivity, we want to contribute our experience to the working groups, help develop best practices and show how standardized communication works in practice — simple, robust and connectable.
What benefits does umati offer your company and your customers?
umati creates visibility for interoperable solutions — and that helps us as well as our customers. Those who rely on manufacturer-independent communication benefit from an ecosystem in which machines, control systems and IT systems come together more easily. Our products are designed to enable precisely this openness — to make data available where it is needed.
How do you evaluate the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering sector?
In our view, the expansion is logical — and necessary. Digitalization does not stop at industry boundaries. If machines are to talk to each other, they need common interfaces and a common understanding. umati brings the right players together and ensures that standards are not only specified, but also used — across the breadth of mechanical and plant engineering.
About Traeger
Traeger GmbH is a solution provider for industrial networking with a focus on OPC UA. Our Codabix middleware not only enables the implementation of OPC UA-based communication, but also the intelligent processing, conditional forwarding and visualisation of production data — locally, in real time and without cloud constraints. We also provide our own OPC UA SDKs, including so-called Co-SDKs for Companion Specifications, which can be used to efficiently implement industry-specific information models. As an umati partner, we actively contribute our OPC UA expertise to the ecosystem of interoperable production.
