umati has new partner Yaskawa Europe GmbH

Yaskawa Europe GmbH is now part of the umati community

What expectations do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?

It is in Yaskawa’s DNA to focus on partnership. In robotics, this is completely normal and has been practised for a long time. After all, a robot always works together with other devices. And the better an interface works, the easier it is to set up and the more precise or reliable it is, the better the overall result and thus customer satisfaction. For us, umati is an opportunity to be at the forefront of establishing standard interfaces and to make it easier for all partners or users of umati to use our robots.

What advantages does umati offer your company and your customers?

Umati as a network of course first of all offers a network effect and thus fast and wide distribution of a collaboration possibility. The fact that many other periphery suppliers such as grippers, feeding solutions, safety technology or sensor technology manufacturers also rely on umati

How do you evaluate the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering industry?

Of course, we assess the expansion to the entire mechanical engineering sector extremely positively because it opens up new possibilities for all participants. In a world that is becoming more and more complex, it helps to rely on standards because this creates new application possibilities for robots in mechanical engineering.
