What expect­a­tions do you have of umati, what do you expect from the part­ner­ship?  

At Utthunga, we provide indus­tri­al solu­tions to enable the seam­less digit­al trans­form­a­tion of vari­ous assets used in the auto­ma­tion life­cycle. Being an early adop­ter and part of the work­ing group for the OPC-UA spe­cific­a­tion, we have been staunch pro­ponents for OPC-UA and the bene­fits it provides to vari­ous indus­tries. Umati is lead­ing the way in bring­ing machine build­ers and tech­no­logy pro­viders togeth­er by bridging the gap in under­stand­ing and imple­ment­ing OPC-UA. With this part­ner­ship, we would like to pop­ular­ize OPC-UA and demon­strate how simple it is to integ­rate this tech­no­logy to reap the bene­fits that Industry 4.0 can offer. 

 What advant­ages does umati offer your com­pany and your cus­tom­ers?  

The Umati com­munity provides a com­mon for­um for machine build­ers and tech­no­logy pro­viders to come togeth­er. One of the main advant­ages of this plat­form is that it provides oppor­tun­it­ies to under­stand the prob­lems and pain points of machine build­ers in their jour­ney of digit­al trans­form­a­tion. The oth­er advant­age of this ini­ti­at­ive is the access to inform­a­tion mod­els spe­cif­ic to dif­fer­ent applic­a­tions in mech­an­ic­al engin­eer­ing and related indus­tries. 

 How do you eval­u­ate the expan­sion of the umati ini­ti­at­ive to the entire mech­an­ic­al engin­eer­ing industry?  

The even­tu­al goal of Umati’s ini­ti­at­ive is to achieve a com­plete Smart Fact­ory envir­on­ment. Such an eco­sys­tem includes con­nec­ted machines com­mu­nic­at­ing across the fact­ory floor and with enter­prise & cloud applic­a­tions using OPC-UA inform­a­tion mod­els and ana­lyt­ics. This is pos­sible by vari­ous indus­tri­al applic­a­tions churn­ing a large amount of data that recom­mend ways to improve pro­ductiv­ity, safety, and secur­ity at every stage of fact­ory oper­a­tions.
