• What expectations do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?
We expect a strong and globally accepted standard that unifies and simplifies OPC-UA interfaces.
The umati partnership should make our efforts in standardisation visible to the general public, our
customers and suppliers.
• What advantages does umati offer your company and your customers?
If the manufacturers of other extrusion line components join here, integrating these will become much
more manageable. The expenses for clarifying the interfaces would be kept to a minimum.
For our customers, this means that we can integrate a special solution they require, with the same
functionality as our standard solution.
We want to motivate our partners to join here as well.
• How do you evaluate the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering
industry?
This is a necessity for industry 4.0. Integrating only a few plant components into a system doesn’t
make much sense. And even if not all values of an element are normalised, normalising the global
variables will affect the structure and naming of the variables and make them easier to read and
understand.
