RCMT is now part of the umati community
- What expectations do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?
RCMT expects umati partnerships to be able to join a community that forms a unified interface for communication between production machines and other equipment. This topic is very important in recent years, thanks to the use of the proposed universal communication interface, it will be possible to easily connect information from machines of different manufacturers, not only with each other, but especially with third-party software and the entire IT world. This can significantly increase efficiency in the use of production machines.
- What advantages does umati offer your company and your customers?
We see the main advantage in the unification of the interface and the possibility to agree on its form within the entire field of production machines. Umati is a leading unifying community of communication interfaces in the field of production machines and thanks to this, it will be possible to expand the machines of our industrial partners with other systems, especially from the world of IT, and this very easily.
- How do you evaluate the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering industry?
As mentioned above, Umati is a leading unifying community, which has been achieved through an active approach to the issue of unification of machine communication. Personally, I evaluate the expansion in the field of mechanical engineering very positively because machines are only part of the entire production chain and it is necessary to connect them not only physically but also in terms of data. Only a close connection can lead to a significant increase in efficiency.
RCMT is a highly professional research and educational institution, which provides services to the industry of cutting and forming machines. With more than 60 employees, RCMT is the main research base for manufacturing technology in the Czech Republic. Cooperation with the industry is among RCMT’s core activities.
RCMT focuses on the development and application of modern methods, especially in the fields of advanced simulation, virtual prototyping, advanced control techniques and vibration suppression methods, machine software design and communication, monitoring and diagnostics, compensation of machine tool errors, design of additional measuring systems and multi-axis machining technology.
