What expect­a­tions do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?

Work­ing with machinery equipped with vari­ous oper­at­ing sys­tems, we look for­ward to Umati as the future of man­u­fac­tur­ing data exchange. Thanks to the uni­fied inter­face, we are con­vinced that the future of com­mu­nic­a­tion between machinery and sys­tems / people will be extremely rap­id, man­aging to uni­fy pro­pri­et­ary lan­guages of indi­vidu­al numer­ic­al con­trol man­u­fac­tur­ers in a single lay­er. This will make it pos­sible to cre­ate inter­con­nec­tions more effi­ciently, faster, and without com­pat­ib­il­ity constraints.

What advant­ages does umati offer your com­pany and your customers?

The Umati con­sor­ti­um allows our com­pany to inter­act at a high level with oth­er inter­na­tion­al com­pan­ies that, like us, are work­ing in the inter­con­nec­tion of machinery and the devel­op­ment of ded­ic­ated soft­ware. The uni­form  inter­face will allow us to offer our cus­tom­ers plug and play solu­tions, over­com­ing com­pat­ib­il­ity lim­its with pro­pri­et­ary pro­to­cols, and provid­ing as well to our end cus­tom­ers a devel­op­ment tool for cus­tom­ized applications.

How do you eval­u­ate the expan­sion of the umati ini­ti­at­ive to the entire mech­an­ic­al engin­eer­ing industry?

We look for­ward for the expan­sion of Umati to the entire mech­an­ic­al engin­eer­ing industry. We strongly believe that uni­fied inter­faces and a stand­ard­ized pro­tocol will finally give a hol­ist­ic push towards con­nect­ing machinery in an Industry 4.0 per­spect­ive. This will also allow small com­pan­ies to reach levels of deep inter­con­nec­tion that are only seen today in large companies.
