umati has new partner NUM AG

NUM AG is now part of the umati community

What expectations do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?
“NUM, being a partner of umati, will gain visibility both at machine builder and end-user.
As more companies join umati the stronger the acceptance of the umati interface gets. To join an organization which aims to standardize a generic communication protocol will help the distribution of the protocol itself”

What advantages does umati offer your company and your customers?
The standardization of protocols simplify the machine’s integration in Industry 4.0 infrastructures; this will help end users, machine builders and CNC manufacturer like NUM.

How do you assess the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering sector?
The umati initiative is a great step forward to standardize the interface for extensive machine and process data collection. End-users usually have to maintain a complex manufacturing environment by operating machine tools from different brands with different controls. umati will be the game changer and will make the difference for an overall shop-floor  implementation of  Industry 4.0 solutions.

About NUM

NUM has more than 60 years of experience in the automation of CNC machines and is one of the pioneers in this field.
We develop the most complex and customized CNC solutions that guarantee maximum added value for both the machine manufacturer and the end-user. We developed a large number of specific solutions for diverse industries. From these, we created groundbreaking total solutions for demanding applications. As an international company with around 300 employees and headquarters in Switzerland, we have many full service locations around the world. This worldwide presence allows us to be geographically close to the machine manufacturer to provide the engineering services required for his needs.
