umati has new partner FFG FEELER

FFG FEELER  is now part of the umati community

What expectations do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?

We believe that UMATI will facilitate real-time data exchange, speeding up the entire machining process and improving efficiency. FEELER’s objective is to maximize machine tool operations through the integration of smart manufacturing with umati. It is anticipated that umati will improve our production capacities by standardizing communication, ultimately simplifying workflows and contributing to the development of Industry 4.0 in our machine tool manufacturing sector.

What advantages does umati offer your company and your customers?

FEELER machines use real-time data via umati to monitor and adjust the production process and thus increase efficiency and quality. umati ‘s standardized data format facilitates the control of the production process and brings additional value to FEELER. The integration of relevant systems improves the efficiency of collaboration, which further increases the efficiency of customers using the machines and consequently leads to cost savings.

How do you evaluate the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering industry?

The expansion of the umati initiative in mechanical engineering standardizes interfaces and thus promotes global interoperability and efficiency. Successful adoption by manufacturers and positive feedback from industry experts are key indicators of its impact. Continuous innovation and adaptability to the needs of the industry increase the importance of umati for the further development of communication standards.

FEELER was founded in 1985 and serves as the parent brand for FFG. The main products during its initial stage were Sawing Machines and Grinding Machines. Recognizing the industry trend towards high automation and unmanned operations in the machine tool industry, the development of CNC Machine Tools was launched in the same year, and the brand name FEELER was established for overseas marketing. In 1986, the first moving column vertical machining center in Taiwan was built, receiving high acclaim from the market. Following this success, the development of CNC Lathes was initiated to complete the FEELER product line. The product range includes Vertical/Horizontal turning and milling, 5‑axis machining centers, automatic production systems, and all-line equipment, etc.
