What expect­a­tions do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership? 

For us as a soft­ware pro­vider in the machin­ing industry, it is extremely import­ant to con­nect dif­fer­ent soft­ware as well as hard­ware com­pon­ents with our tools. A uni­form inter­face holds enorm­ous poten­tial for us in devel­op­ment and for our cus­tom­ers in increas­ing eco­nom­ic efficiency.

The future exchange and cooper­a­tion with umati part­ners and sup­pli­ers can be raised to the next level by this stand­ard­iz­a­tion of the inter­face.  This is not only a quantum leap for our products, but also an enorm­ous bene­fit for our customers. 

What advant­ages does umati offer your com­pany and your customers? 

Thanks to umati and the asso­ci­ated OPC UA inter­face, we are not only able to con­nect machines, pre­set­ting devices, stor­age sys­tems and much more to our sys­tem, but we are also able to import more data than ever before from these machines back into our sys­tem. This data and inform­a­tion can be used in EXAPTcam & EXAPTcon­trol to optim­ize pro­cesses even fur­ther. And, if neces­sary, also cor­rect them inde­pend­ently. This is the next step towards AI.

How do you assess the expan­sion of the umati ini­ti­at­ive to the entire mech­an­ic­al engin­eer­ing sector?

Com­pet­i­tion among the respect­ive com­pan­ies is healthy, because it ensures con­stant fur­ther development. 

How­ever, if you want to live the idea of Industry 4.0, you need part­ner­ships. The last few years have shown what can be achieved when a solu­tion is pur­sued jointly with the cus­tom­er. Be it in the con­cep­tu­al design of inter­faces or the imple­ment­a­tion of machin­ing tech­no­logy in soft­ware. There­fore the idea of umati is the only right approach for us to offer our cus­tom­ers the optim­al solu­tions togeth­er. We are happy to be a part of this com­munity from now on.
