What expect­a­tions do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?

For us as a stand­ard soft­ware man­u­fac­turer for indus­tri­al image pro­cessing, com­mu­nic­a­tion between the “optic­al sensors” cam­er­as is becom­ing increas­ingly import­ant. To make this as easy as pos­sible for our cus­tom­ers is the premise, here the UMATI offers an optim­al pos­sib­il­ity to come into con­tact with the most diverse areas of applic­a­tion in order to sim­pli­fy the com­mu­nic­a­tion between the com­pon­ents and thus enabling our cus­tom­ers to integ­rate more quickly.

What advant­ages does umati offer your com­pany and your customers?

Simple pro­file defin­i­tions, which make it pos­sible to integ­rate an image pro­cessing sys­tem or vis­ion sensor into a com­plex sys­tem with just a few con­fig­ur­a­tion steps and data from a good/bad state­ment to qual­i­fied meas­ure­ment res­ults, which can also have a feed­back effect on the machine, are eas­ily possible.
This enables us an advant­age in product devel­op­ment as well as our cus­tom­ers in the use of our products.

How do you eval­u­ate the expan­sion of the umati ini­ti­at­ive to the entire mech­an­ic­al engin­eer­ing industry? 

The stand­ard­isa­tion of com­mu­nic­a­tion inter­faces is becom­ing more and more import­ant; a machine con­sists of a mul­ti­tude of com­pon­ents that are increas­ingly being networked.
In the past, it was digit­al cables that now have to be replaced by buses in the age of I4.0 in order to meet the require­ments of a digit­al twin, for example.
Here in par­tic­u­lar, a homo­gen­eous soft­ware archi­tec­ture that can trans­port all data from the sensor to the mas­ter com­puter sim­pli­fies the effort con­sid­er­ably. OPC UA and UMATI are devel­op­ing exactly such a com­mu­nic­a­tion structure.

About EVT Eye Vis­ion Technology

EVT is a pro­vider of image pro­cessing soft­ware and hard­ware. The pro­pri­et­ary soft­ware Eye­Vi­sion allows line scan cam­era applic­a­tions, 2D mat­rix, 3D in pro­file or with point clouds, ther­mo­graphy and hyper­spec­tral applic­a­tions to be imple­men­ted. Simple and intu­it­ive oper­a­tion guar­an­tees the fast­est res­ults. EVT devel­ops and pro­duces its own cam­er­as in areas that estab­lished cam­era man­u­fac­tur­ers do not occupy.
