Dr. Heinrich Messtechnik GmbH is now part of the umati community
what expectations do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?
Through the partnership with umati, we as a manufacturer of measurement technology see the global concentration on the machine data of our (inter)national customers — independent of industry and location.
Together with our customers, we are striving for a comprehensive supply of all relevant machine data, which is ensured by the dissemination and use of open interface standards in the form of OPC UA. By implementing this on the Schneider measuring machines and the communication of the different machines with each other, we offer our customers the security of a simple, seamless, economical and secure exchange of information.
what advantages does umati offer your company and your customers?
Thanks to the universal machine tool interface (umati) and OPC UA Companion Specification, we see the possibility of easily integrating machines and other production systems into higher-level systems thanks to “connected devices” in machine construction, which creates transparency and efficient work. Data from the machines becomes readable via interfaces and the connection sends out defined data (previously parameterised from the basic structure), which is immediately understood and read correctly by the receiver. Costs are reduced, especially through the rapid realisation of customised projects, as well as downstream and related costs, such as the significant reduction of labour.
In the midst of the infrastructure of digitalisation, networks and the necessary connectivity, Dr. Heinrich Schneider Messtechnik ensures its customers that they can easily access their data from their machines.
Last but not least, we are also happy to participate in a joint, strong and visible marketing presence through various elements of public relations.
How do you evaluate the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering industry?
Thanks to umati, all machines are given a voice that can exchange and evaluate machine data across the board through the interface with OPC UA Comparison Specifications. At the same time, the umati community ensures the use, marketing and dissemination of OPC UA Companion Specifications across the entire machinery and plant engineering sector and at the same time helps to achieve greater visibility. The communicative interaction between manufacturer and customer simultaneously provides application examples (use cases) and the addressing of end customers. Thanks to its numerous partners, Umati attracts a high degree of attention and forms a jointly cooperative, strong marketing, whereby customers and manufacturers participate. Umati is a fundamental part of actively shaping the ecosystem and contributing to connected production and Industry 4.0. The feedback from our customers time that we are on the right track and numerous best practice cases underline this sustainably.
