What expectations do you have of umati, what do you expect from the partnership?
We expect the partnership with umati to result in seamless, standardised communication between our DATRON CNC machines and our customers’ IT environments. The universal machine interface from umati makes it possible to better integrate our machines into modern production environments and significantly simplifies data exchange. This enables us to increase efficiency in manufacturing operations, reduce machine downtimes and offer our customers better, end-to-end networking. We also see a further increase in the interoperability of our machines with those of other manufacturers and thus an important step towards Industry 4.0.
What advantages does umati offer your company and your customers?
umati offers us as a machine manufacturer the opportunity to simplify the integration of our machines into complex production environments by providing a standardised protocol. This allows our customers to easily integrate machines from a wide range of manufacturers, which increases flexibility and productivity. For our customers, umati offers clear advantages in the networking and automation of production processes. umati reduces the hurdles in the implementation and utilisation of smart factory solutions and thus ensures greater efficiency and transparency.
How do you evaluate the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering industry?
We see the expansion of the umati initiative to the entire mechanical engineering sector as an extremely positive and necessary step towards promoting interoperability, reducing integration costs and accelerating digitalisation in mechanical engineering. For the machine tool industry, this is an important development for a future-proof industry.
