The K is the world’s no.1 trade fair for plastics and rubber.

From 19 to 26 Octo­ber 2022, many machine man­u­fac­tur­ers will use OPC UA at the K in Düs­sel­dorf and demon­strate that the data exchange between the machines works not only in the­ory, but also in real­ity. In addi­tion, the umati demon­strat­or is used to dis­play live data from the con­nec­ted machines via smart­phone. The vis­it­or not only has access to gen­er­al data for identi­fy­ing the machine, but also to dynam­ic status and pro­cess val­ues. Anoth­er pos­sib­il­ity to access the data will be in the VDMA dome, booth CE 01, placed in the out­door area between the halls.

What the demon­strat­or exem­pli­fies as a show­case applic­a­tion forms the basis for com­mer­cial MES sys­tems with extens­ive ana­lys­is options as well as hori­zont­al com­mu­nic­a­tion between machines for pro­cess optim­iz­a­tion. By agree­ing on OPC UA as the tech­no­logy in com­bin­a­tion with the stand­ard­ized inform­a­tion mod­els, the integ­ra­tion of machines from dif­fer­ent man­u­fac­tur­ers into a com­mon sys­tem is con­sid­er­ably simplified.
