OPC UA 40087 for Particle Foam Machines

OPC 40087 defines standardized OPC UA interfaces for particle foam machines used in the production of molded foam parts.

These machines pro­cess mater­i­als such as expan­ded poly­styrene (EPS), expan­ded polypro­pyl­ene (EPP) or sim­il­ar bead foams to man­u­fac­ture products like pro­tect­ive pack­aging, insu­la­tion pan­els and auto­mot­ive components.

The spe­cific­a­tion enables seam­less com­mu­nic­a­tion between the particle foam machine and high­er-level sys­tems such as MES or SCADA. It cov­ers the fol­low­ing functionalities:

Con­fig­ur­a­tion of machine para­met­ers and production
settings
Status mon­it­or­ing for oper­a­tion­al transparency
Pro­cess value exchange and con­trol, includ­ing tem­per­at­ure, pres­sure, and cycle time

By stand­ard­iz­ing these inter­faces, OPC 40087 sup­ports effi­cient integ­ra­tion into smart pro­duc­tion envir­on­ments and enables real-time mon­it­or­ing and optim­iz­a­tion of the foam­ing process.
